Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences is a government-accredited, independently run university of arts in Alfter, near Bonn. Since August 2014, the university has also operated a study centre in Mannheim. Young people at Alanus University are encouraged to take their personal development and that of society into their own hands and to participate actively. To that end, Alanus University places great value on providing a high level of support to its students and encourages interdisciplinary approaches.

Research and artistic development projects

Research projects or artistic development projects are part of the curriculum in all courses at Alanus University. Facilities operated by the university include research institutes for creative arts therapies, for education and social change, and for Waldorf professional and vocational education. There are also numerous research projects in the fields of architecture, eurythmy and business. Alanus University also offers doctoral programmes in the Faculty of Education Science, leading to the award of the academic doctoral titles Dr. päd. and Dr. phil.
