Quick profile*

In the spirit of the Reformation, the Protestant University of Applied Sciences Tabor Marburg affirms the association between personal belief in God's self-revelation in Jesus Christ and esteem for education and science in the tradition of Christian humanism. In the spirit of Pietism, the institution positions itself in the tradition of a close connection between collective spiritual development and an active commitment to social welfare. This connection between individual belief and education, collective spirituality and social responsibility permeates the history of the institution and also serves as a yardstick for the expansion of additional educational and academic course offerings.

Research

The “Forschungsstelle Neupietismus”, a research centre for new pietism that illuminates the theological stance of the university, was founded in 2006.  The “Marburg Institute for Religion and Psychotherapy” investigates theological, psychology-of-religion and psychotherapeutic perspectives on spirituality and religiosity and life management.  The “TANGENS Institute for Cultural Hermeneutics and Research of Living Environments” examines the relationship between sociological milieu research and church establishments and institutions.
