The first public university of applied sciences for health professions in Germany is distinguished by its unique course model, which is interdisciplinary, practice-related and innovative. The university places great value on the close integration of theory and practice, offers both on-campus courses and part-time courses through blended learning and cooperates with a large network of partners in external practice.

The young university of applied sciences, which was founded at the end of 2009, moved into its new home in Bochum in the summer of 2015. The University of Applied Sciences for Health offers modern teaching facilities, a range of learning locations and optimal prospects for the professional future of its students. The university promotes higher levels of academic education and professionalisation in healthcare occupations through its courses of study and research projects.

Research

Research activities at the University of Applied Sciences for Health contribute to the identification of solutions to health, social, technical, ecological and economic challenges, and to safeguarding and improving healthcare for the general population. An integral aspect of courses at the university is the close connection between research and teaching. The university has defined its first three core research areas as part of its strategic development plan. These areas were developed in the university’s Institute for Applied Health Research (IAG). The three core areas are: culture and health, health and technology, and childhood development – diagnosis, prevention and intervention from an interdisciplinary perspective.
