Quick profile*

The Deggendorf Institute of Technology (DIT) is a university of applied sciences focusing in research. It currently operates 13 research and technology application centres and seven research institutes, which are affiliated to the faculties, one of which is in the process of being established. For the past ten years, DIT has been systematically building up its application-oriented research activities and profile under the umbrella of the Centre for Applied Research (ZAF). Regional development is strengthened through close cooperations with partners from industry, business and trade. In 2017, there were around 70 research projects with a third-party budget of just under €10 million. In 2019, scientific teams worked on 114 projects with a budget of over €12 million. At the beginning of 2020, a total of 90 male and 61 female scientific employees were engaged in R&D projects.
At DIT, research activities are clustered into 4 main areas: Digital Economy and Society, Intelligent Mobility, and Sustainable Materials, Processes and Energy Technology. Innovative Working Environments and Healthy Living, the fourth area of research, is in the process of being built up.
