Merz Academy – College of Design in Stuttgart is a government-accredited not-for-profit university of applied sciences with a keen interest in the disciplines of art, design, the humanities and technology. This distinctive profile positions the university between a classical academy of art, a university of applied sciences and an arts faculty. Students undertaking the accredited bachelor's and master's degree courses in the pathways of Crossmedia Publishing, Film and Video, Visual Communication and New Media combine theory, art and technology in novel ways and apply their insights as the authors of innovative media projects.

Research

Research activities at Merz Academy primarily focus on processes of reciprocal exchange between design, technology, art and knowledge, thereby opening up a field of research and artistic practice that will resonate with artists, designers and scholars in the humanities. Research activities, in particular projects receiving third-party funding, have been stepped up in recent years. Academic work at the academy adheres to guidelines for Safeguarding Good Scientific Practice.
