The historic building, which was once a Franciscan monastery dating from the mid-thirteenth century, now painstakingly restored, provides the ideal setting for creative and artistic learning and teaching. What is more, the college is also the only music university in Germany in such direct proximity to the sea.
Research
The core research areas of the Institute of Musicology and Music Education are historical musicology, ethnomusicology and music education. Interdisciplinary research topics are investigated in cooperation with the University of Rostock within the DFG Research Training Group “Cultural Contact and Scientific Discourse”.
