Jade University of Applied Sciences - Wilhelmshaven/Oldenburg/Elsfleth is a young university of applied sciences – and yet it has a long tradition in training. That is because it was founded in 2009 through the merger of two former universities of applied sciences. As a result, the university blends up-to-the-minute teaching and learning concepts with empirical knowledge and robust expertise from training establishments that go all the way back to 1832.

Today, the Elsfleth campus is home to one of the most renowned nautical training establishments in Germany. And the reputation of several other disciplines at our young university has also spread far beyond the region. Courses at the interface between human and machine such as “Hearing Technology” and “Assistive Technologies” are hallmarks of Jade University.

Research

Jade University has achieved international visibility in a number of research fields, and intends to further develop these fields and their profiles. Our focus is on the following six future-focused topics: Energy, Health, Information, Design, Maritime Management and Technology, Logistic and Commerce, Material and Construction.

Jade University has advertised doctoral positions under the Jade2Pro Programme in order to support early career researchers. To date, a total of 24 positions have been created for research assistants. Doctoral training takes the form of a cooperative doctorate at a university under the supervision of a professor from Jade University.
