Architecture and urbanism, civil engineering, art and design and media: this is the very distinctive profile of Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. Scholarly and artistic work here tackles the conception, construction and design of contemporary and future living spaces – analytical, creative and keenly innovative. The range of courses offered in the university's four faculties is based on the connection between academic, engineering and creative-artistic works. In keeping with the roots of the historic Bauhaus movement under Walter Gropius, the word “Bauhaus” in the university's name stands for eagerness to experiment, openness, creativity and internationalism.

In addition to the research priorities of “Digital Engineering” and “Cultural Scientific Media Research”, topics such as “City, Architecture and Environment”, “Material and Construction” and “Art.Design.Science” are also examined.
