Quick profile*

The Technische Universität Dresden (TU Dresden) is one of the oldest technical academic institutions of education in Germany. It is organised in 14 faculties, which are divided into five schools.

Studying in Dresden also means moderate living costs, a wide variety of cultural activities, the great scenery around the Elbe River, exciting night life and a wide range of sporting opportunities.

TU Dresden has defined five research priority areas:

  • Health Sciences, Biomedicine and Bioengineering
  • Information Technology and Microelectronics
  • Smart Materials and Structures
  • Energy, Mobility and Environment
  • Culture and Social Change

The funding of endowed chairs at TU Dresden is a particular sign of the university's high standing with industry. For the university, these professorships are a means to teaching and research appropriate to the needs of professional practice. At present, TU Dresden has ten endowed chairs.

TU Dresden’s Graduate Academy supports doctoral candidates and post-doctoral researchers on their academic path with a special training and fellowship programme.
