Saarland University's research capabilities are among the strongest of any medium-sized university in Germany. This is corroborated by the high volume of third-party funding it receives, the international profiles and networks of its researchers and its non-university research institutes – which include two Max Planck institutes, two Leibniz and two Fraunhofer institutes and a Helmholtz institute.
