The RWTH ranks among the eleven German universities which were successful in the Universities of Excellence funding line. By the beginning of this third round of the Excellence Initiative, RWTH has already developed into an Integrated Interdisciplinary University for Science and Technology, focusing on the convergence of knowledge, methods, and insights. Topics include sustainable synthetic fuels, data mining, computational science (especially artificial intelligence), production technology, high-performance materials, health, renewable resources and mobility and more.
