Top-level research
Along with the interdisciplinary Clusters of Excellence “Religion and Politics” and “Cells in Motion”, there are numerous other fields in which the university conducts leading-edge research, such as infection research, cell research, chemistry and physics and mathematics. The university is lead university in seven DFG Collaborative Research Centres. Along with other research projects with DFG funding, a growing proportion of programmes is funded by the Federal Government and European Union or through foundations.
