MHH's outstanding performance in healthcare is a shining example: the facility records more than 60,000 in-patients and 430,000 outpatient consultations annually. The close connection between top-level medical research and modern diagnostic procedures and therapies pays dividends.

Medical research at MHH is among the strongest of any university of applied sciences in Germany. MHH's outstanding research performance has been clearly demonstrated in the Federal and state governments’ Excellence Initiative. MHH is home to two clusters of excellence: the “REBIRTH” cluster for regenerative medicine and the “Hearing4all” cluster for hearing research. Other core areas at MHH are transplant research, infection and immunology research and also biomedical technology and implants.
