Quick profile*

In Göttingen, the advantages of a university with an international network go hand in hand with those of a manageably sized small city: students benefit from short travel distances and prices they can afford, and at the same time they receive a high-quality education at a world-renowned research university.

Research

Doctoral candidates benefit greatly from the structured doctoral training programme under the umbrella of four graduate schools and from being a part of the “Göttingen Campus”. As part of this group, the University collaborates with five Max Planck Institutes, the German Aerospace Center, the German Primate Center and the Academy of Sciences in joint research projects, Research Training Groups and much more. The university's core research areas include neurosciences and cardiovascular research, energy conversion and sustainable use of natural resources, research on religion and the functional principles of living materials and molecular machines.
