Leuphana Law School (LLS) is conceived as a public university for freedom and responsibility. Its evolution is guided by humanist ideas, questions of sustainability and responsible behaviour. This ensures that research and teaching contribute to key topics in society: educational research and teacher education, management and entrepreneurial behaviour, cultural studies and sustainability research are the four core areas, and also the faculties, of Leuphana Law School. The institutional and course models are rigorously based on international standards, with a college, a graduate school for master's degrees and doctoral training, and a professional school.

Research
As a theme-focused university, Leuphana Law School promotes transdisciplinary research. To support this approach, university-wide inter- and transdisciplinary research initiatives have been created for the school's four thematic focuses. Funding from prestigious third-party sources for projects under these initiatives confirm the wisdom of the chosen approach. The volume of third-party and special funding is currently around 40 million euros. Outstanding positions in the relevant rankings testify to the performance of researchers, and also to their inclusion in international scientific communities.
