Quick profile*

DESY – Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron is a centre of the Helmholtz Association. The core research areas of DESY are the development and operation of state-of-the-art accelerators. For photon research, DESY operates some of the best light sources in the world, whose X-rays reveal atomic structures and reactions in the nanocosmos. In particle physics, DESY conducts research into fundamental aspects of the universe through worldwide collaborations.
