Around 23,000 people study, teach, research and work at the University of Bremen. It is one of eleven universities across Germany that has earned the right to the title “University of Excellence”. The University offers courses in natural and engineering sciences as well as in social sciences and humanities.

Research strengths

Research at the University of Bremen is designed to be interdisciplinary – with cooperation arrangements that extend beyond the boundaries of individual subjects. The University has established six core academic areas in order to raise its profile and for the purposes of carrying out major research team projects:
