Research

The University of Heidelberg’s goal is to further develop outstanding individual disciplines, to continue to expand dialogue across traditional subject boundaries in the light of complex challenges, and to ensure that its research results can be put to use in society and the economy. This is why particular emphasis is placed on introducing early career researchers to autonomous research early on. With over 7,500 doctoral candidates, the University of Heidelberg is one of the major doctoral incubators in Germany. This achievement is underpinned by cooperation with strong non-university partners. The “Industry on Campus” initiative promotes long-term cooperation arrangements with industry in basic research, with the goal of improving knowledge transfer into applied research.
